How Sugar Affects Your Brain in Negative Ways

Sugar always seems to get the blame for bad things happening to your body, but sugar affects your brain in negative ways when you consume more than you should.

Have you ever heard that sugar is similar to cocaine? Apparently, research has shown that sugar does in fact act like a drug, and it keeps you hungry for more.

What is it about sugar that changes your brain chemistry in such dramatic ways? Today, I’m going to take a look at why you can’t think straight and why you feel so tired after eating too much sugar!

Sugar Affects Your Brain and Tricks You

It’s not uncommon to feel the urge to eat sweets during the holidays, but what may throw you off a bit is the way your body processes sugar.

It can leave you feeling a bit uneasy in your stomach, but there are some other things sugar can do to you as well when it’s consumed in excess.

  1. Binge sweeting. Okay, this is a term that combines two words; binge eating and sweets. When your body craves sweets, it’s because of the addiction factor. When you eat too much of it, you crave too much of it. Make sense? As it turns out, research has shown that sugar can act as strongly as cocaine. You’ll become addicted, thus leaving your body with horrible withdrawal when you back off. What doesn’t kill you will only make you stronger right?
  2. Weight gain. Yikes! This one is no surprise, but you should know that gaining weight is still only a small part of your problem. While gaining weight doesn’t seem to be a “small” problem, just remember that the inability to think clearly is actually worse. Weight gain occurs when your body produces too much insulin. You’ll also collect fluid because of the way sugar affects your brain.
  3. Foggy brain. Ahhhhh, brain fog. It’s the worst, and if you’re eating too much sugar it can really wreck your ability to be productive on your job and at home. Too much sugar will slow down the mental processes in the brain and will make you feel a bit foggy.
  4. Your skin looks older than you feel. Aging should only happen gracefully, but when you eat too much sugar, it can take over quickly. When your body is working harder because of your sugar intake, it can leave you feeling sluggish and it will damage the healthy cells. Don’t let this happen to you. Focus in looking and feeling younger by cutting back on the sugar.
  5. Unhealthy tendencies for food choices. The more sugar you eat the more sugar you’ll eat. It’s tough to do away with sugar once you’ve had it. If you can keep it close to zero you’ll think yourself later. Avoid processed foods and sugary desserts if you can. Every once in awhile it’s okay to treat yourself, but think long-term when you choose your food.

Sugar isn’t evil, but it’s pretty darn close. Be mindful of what you eat, because your life depends on it. It’s very challenging to reduce blood sugar and keep it under control once you’ve unleashed it, so be aware of this as you get older too.

You’ll be so glad that you took the time to study how sugar affects your brain, before it gets the best of your body.

How has sugar been affecting your brain?

Even in primates, a higher social ranking was more satisfying than a lower social ranking. Your muscles are one of your biggest assets, and this is why it’s important to eat specific foods so you can eat for healthy muscle mass. Tons of research has been done to determine what the body needs to build stronger muscles.

There are other purposes for building healthy muscle mass including warding off Type 2 diabetes. The more muscle you have, the easier it is for you to burn fat. What is the secret to building healthy muscle mass? It all goes back to diet.

Today, I’ll share with you the 5 foods that you should eat for healthy muscle mass, and so you can have more energy.

Targeting Foods to Eat for Healthy Muscle Mass

You might think that you should eat chicken every day to help you build lean muscle mass, but that isn’t entirely true. There are tons of options for you when it comes to what you should eat for healthy muscle mass.

Here are 5 great options you can count on.

1. Fish. Fresh fish is the best, and it’s also best if you focus on oily fish like salmon, rainbow trout, tuna, and the well-known stinky fish….sardines! These fish all have one thing in common, and that’s that they are high in Omega 3 fatty acids. These acids are essential for building protein, and they are great for lubricating joints as well.

2. Quinoa. This food has an unusual name, but it’s great for you. This is a great option to help carb addicts replace rice, and it’s really high in protein. Quinoa is a healthy carb, and it can help you balance out your diet when you have had too many carbs.

3. Lean cuts of meat. Red meat gets a bad rap, but there are some choices that are lean and will help you get the B12 you need as well as the protein. Always choose lean cuts like round sirloin and tenderloin. You won’t regret it!

4. Eggs. Of course, eggs are always on the list. Your brain is made up of essentially what an egg yolk resembles, and that’s protein. You can eat eggs which are great for muscle recovery, and they are high in leucine. This is great news for athletes that need energy before the big event.

5. Cottage cheese. This is probably a shocking option, but this dairy product is high in protein, has potassium, and it’s loaded with calcium and Vitamin D. You should always opt for the low fat option to keep your fat intake in check.

Eating right doesn’t have to be complicated, but it’s important that you focus on the foods that contain the level of protein your body needs. If you aren’t 100% sure of what you should be eating, be sure to check with your doctor first, and ask any questions you might have.

It’s important to feed your muscles, so be sure to eat for healthy muscle mass before you work out.

Aging the Healthy Way

Teenage girls may worry about how they look right now, but aging the healthy way is a big concern for every adult. No one wants to think about aging or the long-term changes of aging, but you don’t have to face aging alone or without a plan to slow it down.

Body changes will be a fear that every teen faces, the question is whether or not you are teaching your teen how to eat and live in a healthier way to prepare them for better health later in life.

Is aging stressful for you? It’s important that you teach your teen how to eat healthy and make good choices so that later in life they’ll see fewer effects of aging. Today, I’ll share with you some helpful tips for you and your teen so that you can face aging the healthy way.

Tips on Aging the Healthy Way

Aging doesn’t have to be scary, and means it doesn’t have to be scary for both and your teen. Nutrition should be a joint effort in the home, and aging is a big concern these days for teen girls.

There are tons of commercials and news about plastic surgery with celebrities and young women are paying attention. Many teenagers want to know how they can stay looking young like they are right now, but they fear that they’ll have to pay for expensive procedures.

This isn’t the image of aging that they should grow up with. The way to battle aging should be through good nutrition and exercise, and here are the tips for aging the healthy way to prove it.

  1. Eating food that is rich in antioxidants, like raspberries, blueberries, strawberries, walnuts, pinto beans, and green leafy vegetables. These foods are easy to incorporate into your diet, and they can be added into salads, fruit salad bowls, breakfast quiches, chili’s and soups.
  2. Don’t smoke. Smoking is a bad habit, and it’s hard to break. Smoking is dangerous because cigarettes contain nicotine, and it’s a stimulant. When using stimulants, the heart speeds up and it can cause damage to the heart muscles. Smoking is also bad for the skin and over time can turn the skin yellow and cause it to wrinkle. Avoid any bad habits like smoking that can cause these problems now and in the future.
  3. Avoid alcohol. Did you know that alcohol is a depressant? Alcohol can cause you to feel depressed and it can also cause you to lose moisture in your skin. The more often you drink the more likely you’ll be depressed and age. Both of these issues can cause the other to happen. Keep this in mind.

There are a lot of things you can do to slow down the aging process, and you don’t have to wait until you are older to start. The earlier you start focusing on better diet and exercise, the earlier you’ll be able to ward off aging and the effects of it.

Aging the healthy way means sound nutrition and exercise because there isn’t any other option.

Today Is The Best Day Of Your Life

Nutrition and Cardiovascular Health

Nutrition and cardiovascular health are critical as heart disease is now regarded as the leading cause of death in the United States. While cardiovascular disease is such a broad term there are many types of this disease that seem to plague individuals.

There are tons of diets being published and all of them promise magical results. While diets are now tailor made more so than ever before, it’s important to know what you need to eat for better cardiovascular health.

Today, I’ll share some valuable insights into nutrition and cardiovascular health that you won’t want to miss!

Understanding the Keys to Nutrition and Cardiovascular Health

If you could save your life with the food you eat would you change everything you are doing right now? Most likely the answer is yes, but it’s not always easy.

The motivation is living a normal life and the ability to enjoy your life. This is why it’s important to understand how nutrition plays a vital role in your cardiovascular health.

Here are some simple guidelines:

1. Eat fruits and vegetables, but be selective. Eating fruits and vegetables is always a great idea, but be selective. Opt for fruits that are low in natural sugars, and with vegetables it’s ideal to stick with those that are less starchy. Potassium is a natural way of lowering blood pressure, and if the body is depleted heart problems can arise. The extra bonus is that they are high in fiber and low in fat!

2. Opt for low-fat dairy. Dairy is a beautiful thing, but it’s important that you cut the fat for heart health. Calcium is often misunderstood as being great for the bones, but little has been published about its amazing ability to help reduce blood pressure. Choose low-fat cottage cheese, low-fat milk and other low-fat dairy products when possible.

3. Are you nuts? Nuts are a great source of good fats, and they can help lower your bad cholesterol. Nuts are also full of antioxidants which support cell health and repair damaged cells. With healthy blood vessels your blood will pump great without restriction.

4. Stop the saturated fat. Fat isn’t bad, in fact as I mention above the nuts are a good fat. Your brain is mostly fat, but keep in mind that saturated fats are a killer. Keep the fat low in the diet and high in fiber, and you’ll be able to maintain solid heart health.

5. Get moving and limit the alcohol. A glass of red wine is good for you, but drinking on a regular basis isn’t good for your heart. Alcohol is a depressant, but for the body it can boost your blood pressure. If you limit your alcohol intake and you focus on physical activity at least a few days a week to start, you’ll put your body in good shape.

Nutrition and cardiovascular disease are mentioned on a regular basis in the United States. This is a tell-tale sign that many Americans are eating high fat diets. The fast food world we live in is unkind to the mind and the body.

Your life depends on your diet, and if you eat poorly then you can expect to live in poor health. Don’t kill yourself with your fork. Take your health seriously and be sure to research proper nutrition and cardiovascular disease so that you can give your family peace of mind.

Education for the Modern Day Business Model

The term “alternative business”, may sound a little strange but there is education for the modern day business model.
Business has changed…in it’s entirety.

Marketing has changed, sales calls have changed, and most of all, the cost of doing business has changed. If anything, business is better.

Despite what the news tells you, business has been better for quite some time. While you may be led to believe that things are tough right now in the economy (they are, but not nearly as bad as the media tells us), it’s still a numbers game.

The more folks you reach, the more you talk to, the more you get in front of…you’ll be successful. You’ll be able to build the audience you’ve been working on for quite some time.

The question for you is, are you ready to pick up the pace?

Today, I’ll share with you how educating our future businessmen and women has changed, and what you can do to prepare for your best year yet!

Embracing the Modern Day Business Model

Did you know that some folks believe that business is still all about handshakes and newspaper articles?

Business hasn’t worked that way for a very long time. In fact, that method of doing business is extremely outdates, and handshakes just don’t cut it anymore.

Business has changed significantly, and it’s up to you to make sure that you embrace it.

Chances are, if you’re reading this, you’re trying to learn more about how business has changed and how you can get the education you want and deserve to build your business.

It doesn’t matter if you are self-employed or if you are working for someone else. Either way, you need the knowledge that others are lacking, so that you can be a cut above the rest.

It’s a harsh reality that major corporations are failing in America, and no…it’s not because of the recession. There are plenty of reasons behind the recession that matter.

Here are just a few of them.

1. Asking the wrong questions. Are you asking WHY individuals did not become a customer? If you didn’t ask, you’ll never know where you fell short. Stop asking how the experience was, and start asking why people chose to not do business with you.

2. No one is asking for the business. Did you know that most folks are stunned when a clerk just fails to ask for their business? It’s amazing how many don’t ask for the sale. Ask, and it shall be given unto you!

3. You don’t know your audience. A business is usually built with a target audience in mind. If you don’t know where these folks like to shop, where they like to live, what they like to eat, and where they buy their clothing, you’ll have trouble establishing relationships with these folks. Don’t be fooled, you need to know everything about them otherwise your marketing will miss the mark.

So, how do you do all of this?

Teaching Students About the Modern Day Business Model

Now that you know where the problems lie, it’s time to take a good look at how these students can learn what they really need to be successful in business.

A modern business requires engagement with social media channels, and it also requires networking. Networking is where there is a gaping hole, most often because people don’t understand the importance of building relationships.

People will buy from other people that they know, like, and trust. It’s amazing how many folks don’t know this. Do you tend to respond better to people that you know and like? What about building trust?

Trust is everything, and I know that I would NEVER buy from someone that I didn’t trust.

It’s all about relationships, but learning to use tools like social media and blogging are key components now of how a business is done.
With these channels, you will be able to tell stories, share stories, and of course, you’ll be able to make connections that wouldn’t happen otherwise.

Wouldn’t you say it’s time to build a business?

If you want to succeed, then it’s time to focus on learning more about the modern day business model!

Business is providing a service to a problem that society has.

What are your thoughts on this post?
