  5. Collaboration is the key. As collaboration becomes better, it will pay off for those entrepreneurs and medical teams that can handle it. Finding gaps in the technology is a big deal, so that the best medical care can be delivered. It’s only a matter of time until teams become the only standard in providing medical care to all patients. The bigger the network, the better the care…at least this is how it’s predicted.

  2. You can’t do it all, so delegation is important. It’s your job to find out the strengths and weaknesses of those on your team so that you’ll know who to go to when you need something done. Delegation isn’t weak, it takes a great manager to be able to do this.
  3. Motivate your team. It’s not hype to try to keep people motivated. What motivates them? Think about how you can encourage and motivate your team every day to keep the fires of creativity going!
  4. Keep the lines of communication open. One of the core skills that strikes a chord with me is keeping the lines of communication open. No matter how many folks are on the team, make sure that everyone knows their role, and that if something doesn’t work you let them know that. You should be timely in your communication, so don’t get too pushy if your team member isn’t as open about things as you are. Lead by example.
  5. Manage discipline. Sometimes you may have to discipline an individual, even if you don’t want to. No one wants to be the “bad guy”, butdiscipline is necessary to keep the team in line and moving forward. Communication plays an important role in discipline, because if it’s an ongoing issue, the team member needs to know what the end result is.

Managers are a vital part of how successful a business can be. If you aren’t putting your best foot forward every single day, you won’t be successful.

You should know what it takes to manage a team, and do so effectively. This is why core skills are so important.
