  3. Serve a diet high in fiber. A high fiber diet is important for those who are aging as well. This is because seniors tend to eat less, and having the right amount of fiber in their diet is important to help keep things moving along. A diet high in fiber may also help prevent heart disease in those that don’t have it. A diet high in fiber may also prevent cancer as well as reduce the chances of them becoming diabetic. Okay, I hear ya.

You’re thinking that building relationships with everyone is time-consuming, and you don’t have time for that. I’ll take it a step further and remind you that you don’t have to connect with every single person you meet on a deep level.

However, you never know what will come of a relationship and it’s only fair to give everyone you do meet a few minutes of your time.

Do you know that you can meet a new business partner at the park? You may not know it right then and there, but this has been known to happen. Here are some tips to help you think differently about the people you meet and what they could mean to you in the future.

  1. Spend quality time giving people a chance. It isn’t every day that you’ll meet someone you want to connect with long-term, but spend some quality time with people and you’ll begin to see things differently. It is important to give people a chance and get to know them.
  2. Ask them to share their story. Everyone has a story, and it’s our job to be better listeners. Listening is a lost art, and along the line somewhere, we have to know that it is vital to hear the story and take from that how it shapes that individual. It is only fair to listen and then assess how you can be a part of their lives. See the good in people and then help further that good along.
  3. Place them where they can tap into their talents. Once you choose to bring someone on board to your team, place them where they work best. What gifts and talents do they have? What are they most passionate about? Place them where they can be utilized, and where their God-given talents can shine. Placing team members in positions where they are not gifted will make them feel uncomfortable. Let them adjust and use what they know best before you cross-train them.

There are numerous ways to build relationships, but the ONLY right way is to take the time to get to know people and LISTEN to their story. Allow others to share their stories, trials, and their successes with you.

Once you know what they want out of life, you can then learn more about their goals and how far they can go. There isn’t a short cut to building relationships.

The storyline in the book, about Tom, is a great eye-opener for those of us who have said, “well, one more donut won’t hurt me”. Yikes. I’ve done that. Have you?

It makes you think about how and why we choose to do certain things, and not all of those choices are good. Self-destruction is where it ultimately leads, and that can be dangerous to you and all involved.

The most interesting thing about this book, is that it is written by the Arbinger Institute. This means that a committee had to come together to submit ideas and prepare to write this book.

The story of Tom and his situation are quite common. He believes that he has been wronged by someone stealing his business, but throughout the story line he doesn’t ever see that he contributes to the problem.

At some point, you may begin to think that you relate to this guy in every way. You may think, “Gee, I know what it’s like to be in that situation. I know how awful that is, and I can’t believe so and so did that to me.”

What if you were to look at the story in a different light?

What if you asked, “How did I contribute to this mess?”

Tom learns as he goes that he should see employees or team members as people, and not just “workers”, or “employees”. Tom begins to understand that although these team members may not do everything right, they may be doing their absolute best.

Other Great Lessons from Leadership and Self-Deception

Along with great insights, there is also great entertainment.

Tom appears to have some road rage when he shakes his fist at a driver, and later he realizes it was his neighbor that he had an encounter with earlier that day. Wouldn’t this make you feel uncomfortable?

I can somewhat identify with Tom because I’ve heard something, made snap judgments and only to find out later that it wasn’t true.

Things are not always what they appear to be, but we believe the lie that what we see is what we are getting. This is almost never the case.

The question that this book poses, and that is super critical, is whether or not an individual who sees people as people rather than pawns in a game is worth more.

Does this mean that an individual like this can be a better manager or leader?

There will be times when you have to decide that certain things are NOT in the best interest of the company, as well as NOT in the best interest of the employees.

These are the tough decisions that leaders face, but this is okay.

Change takes time, and believe it or not, it is critical that every organization take this position if they want to champion the development of real leaders.

The influence of love is pretty strong, and it is amazing that so few people in this world love their spouse or children as passionately as God loves us.

When someone says that they are, “under the influence of love”, I think about a new relationship. I think about a couple that has just begun dating, or perhaps a young couple that is of high-school age.

You might refer to this as “puppy love”, but it does exist.

If you have never read the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan, you should get your hands on it. Some say it’s “radical”, others say it’s really just “crazy”.

Whatever you choose to call it, you should know that God is probably just crazy enough to love us. Our wretched nature is enough to turn people away, regardless of how good we look or smell.

Human beings can only express the love of God the best way they know how, or how they can relate to it. What would it take for you to know that you are loved fully and that without a doubt you are forgiven of all the wrong you’ve ever done in your life?

What if you knew that feeling of unconditional love?

It’s so rare, but today, I want to share with you what I’ve learned about the nature of God, and how important it is that we focus on learning more about how deeply He loves us, and why it’s the key to living out the rest of our time here on earth.

The Influence of Love is Strong

It’s no surprise that love can change the way you see things, but it can also change the way you view things. The influence of love in my heart and mind, and even in my household is exemplified through the love of God.

The greater question may even be, what is the actual influence of love? It’s something so strong, that it causes people to see the truth about themselves and the individual that loves them.

Having said that, I want to share with you what God says about love, and why His love is so strong, and that nothing can separate us from that love.

We know that:

  • God sent His ONLY son to die (John 3:16)
  • God teaches that we should treat others how we would want to be treated (Luke 6:31)
  • God teaches that love should be sincere and hate what is evil (Romans 12:9)
  • God teaches us to love our neighbor as ourselves (Mark 12:31)
  • God teaches us that love does no harm to anyone or anything (Romans 13:10)
  • God teaches us that love does not keep score or record of wrongs, and that love is kind, patient, and influences our relationships in a way that generally does not present the way we live as human beings (I Corinthians 13:4-8)

Clearly, the strongest possible influence is one that is sacrificial. As a father, I tried to put myself in this situation. I really tried to imagine giving up my son to die for a wretched, and sinful world like the one we live in today. I have to be honest and tell you that there is no way I could give up any of my children to die.

It is also hard to imagine loving people so much, that you are able to love them as you love yourself, and it is hard to imagine that you would drop everything to help someone regardless of how well you know them.

What about loving someone completely, no matter what they have done? It is hard to imagine this, and it is difficult to think that you could go without reminding someone of the wrong they have done.

Real love, deep love, that is unconditional, truly is an amazing gift, and it is so rare. In fact, this love that has so much influence is much needed, and when it is freely given it can change the other individual within the relationship.

Are you able to show your spouse this kind of love? What about your children? Your co-workers, and even your boss? There are many different ways that you can show others you love them.

The question is, is your love strong enough to influence them?

Do You Have the Influence of Love?

Now that you know a bit about where my influence comes from, think about what influences you most. Is it money, fame, fortune, or something else?

What about your business. Do you believe that you can influence them enough to join you, buy from you, or even refer you? What is is that you want most out of your life or business?

Love is always first.

Love goes a long way in not only relationships with your family, but even your love for the Lord carries over into your business and how you treat people.

Do you create value for them and put their best interest first? Do you see them as just a number or do you see them as a valuable part of what you do?

Allow love to influence your life in multiple ways, and don’t be afraid to share your love with others. God loves you fiercely, and it is important that you allow that to sink in.

God is love, and it should and can permeate every aspect of your being.

Always let the influence of love be the greatest source for everything in your life.

Have you heard about or read about the diet that puts your body into a state of ketogenesis?

It’s an interesting term, and it’s one that you don’t hear about often, but that may be because it is under such scrutiny by doctors and dietitians everywhere.

The question most folks are asking is, “If a high-protein diet and working out isn’t really working for me, why not try something different?”

While I was a bit skeptical myself, I have to tell you that I’ve learned so much, and with all I’ve read and researched so far, the research is quite compelling.

The keto diet plan is a lot better than I bargained for, meaning it’s easier than I bargained for. The thing is……I feel phenomenal. Fad diets have been a problem in America for decades.

Suffice it to say that most women have tried every diet on the planet.

It’s fascinating that doctors would support a high-fat diet, but there is much more to it than that. In fact, if you could try a new way of eating that is easy, flavorful, and actually, produces results, then hang onto your hats.

If you are not familiar with the ketogenic diet, it’s time to sit back, buckle your seatbelt, and get ready for the ride of your life. What you are about to learn is a unique way of eating, and one that has doctors re-thinking how they are telling their patients to eat.

I’m going to walk you through the basic principles of what it means to eat a diet that is based on ketogenesis.

What the Heck is Ketogenesis?

Yup, it’s an interesting word but it’s fun to say.


This word defines a biochemical process, and that process is what produces a body of ketones. You may have heard that raspberries contain high amounts of ketones, and it’s true.

However, eating a container or two of raspberries won’t get you there. It’s a lifestyle that gets you there. This amazing breakdown of fatty acids is what starts this process.

I think everyone in the world that has ever struggled with their weight would love to heard the phrase, “Breakdown of fat”. It’s so much more than fatty acids, and it’s a lot more than eating “high-fat”.

What else does this word mean?

Ketogenic refers to the breakdown of ketogenic amino acids as well, and that is what science refers to as the precursor to ketone bodies.

The idea is that instead of eating a diet that converts into glucose (sugar), that you eat a diet high in fat, so that what your body ends up burning is fat.

You may have heard people jokingly use the phrase, “Fat is where it’s at!” This my friend, is so true. Why?

When fat is burned, energy is supplied to the most important organs, one of which is the brain. Could you stand to have more energy transferred to your brain?

I know I could…..and…..some folks I know. (That is another story).

The thing is, it takes doing some homework upfront, and it’s important that you follow the protocol. If you don’t follow the doctor’s instructions, you can take away too many carbs, and not get the proper ketogenic aspect of it.

The basic principle of the diet is this:

  • Just the right amount of fat
  • Moderate amounts of protein
  • Low-carb at just the right level

Ketones are actually produced in the liver, and this is interesting because everything passes through the liver. Consider the process of metabolism.

Drugs have to metabolize just like everything else you consume, and therefore, it only makes sense that if you feed your body a certain way, that your metabolism would balance itself.

Here is a simple principle to help you understand what happens when following a keto diet plan. When fasting, the body will draw from its reserves, and therefore it will begin to burn fat.

Read that again….nice and slow.

This doesn’t mean that you can drink soda because you are eating high-fat. This also doesn’t mean that you eliminate carbs completely from your diet. That isn’t healthy either.

This diet is about finding the balance of fat, moderate amounts of protein, and just the right level of low-carbs. The whole point is to tire out and frustrate the body’s storage of carbohydrates, and then ultimately to make sure that the body is burning fat.

There is a lot of science to support this, but I am not a scientist or a doctor, therefore I won’t attempt to use any scientific jargon. What I can tell you is that the basic principles above are what I’ve learned, and following the kick-start plan in the book, Keto Clarity has worked for me and thousands of others.
