5 Tactics Leaders With Industry Influence Use To Build Their Brand

Ever been the last kid picked for dodgeball? You know the feeling: You’re standing in line against the wall, and it’s down between you and one other kid. You hope and pray you’ll be picked, but no — the other kid gets chosen instead.

That sense of defeat is universal.

It’s the same feeling I had at one of the first conferences I attended early in my career. I was at a networking session, and I thought that surely, based on my sales and real estate experience, I’d do well connecting with other people.

But that didn’t happen. I kept getting dismissed not by just one or two people — but by literally everyone. I couldn’t connect with people if my life depended on it. Suddenly, I felt the gym wall of my middle school against my back, and the fear of not being acknowledged or accepted hit me like a dodgeball in the gut.

Although I felt alone at the time, I realized I wasn’t at all. In fact, I’m sure that as you were reading this, you were recalling a few times you felt that gym wall against your back, too, when you were overlooked for someone more favorable or influential.

While it’s easy to let that feeling take hold and never let go, you can’t let it. Instead, figure out what you can do differently. Because, as I learned, the success of your company more than likely depends on your ability to do that and build influence with your audience(especially if influencer marketing is a strategy you’re interested in).

The original article was found at the following link- https://www.forbes.com/sites/johnhall/2017/01/29/5-tactics-leaders-with-industry-influence-use-to-build-their-brand/#22b776014cc5

The Value of Influencer Marketing

If you read a lot of business books then you have most likely read Influencer Marketing.

Chances are, you’ve even attended a webinar or two that discussed this trend. The focus taken from marketing to influential people within the industry changes the game.

What is it that raises the value of this type of marketing? Does this type of marketing have a real advantage over another type?

This article is going to discuss influencer marketing, what it is, and why it’s invaluable to the marketplace.

What is Influencer Marketing?

Ok.

I get it. This term threw you for a loop. It’s unusual to hear about a trend that focuses on people rather than tactics. It’s actually quite interesting.

Consider that individuals have some influence over potential buyers and their ultimate decision to make a purchase.

This is the true definition of influencer marketing.

It’s all about the focus on influential people that get others to make a decision based upon what they believe to be true.

Can you think of a time when you bought something all because something you saw influenced you to do so?

We see ads and such that influence us every single day. It’s not unusual to make a decision based upon an ad that you saw.

What about a TV commercial?

This is what an influencer does. Something that they wrote, said, or shared with you helped you make a decision.

What about a celebrity that you like, promoting something that you have seen or considered purchasing?

It’s easier if you think the celebrity likes it or uses it. They make it believable. This is what influences people most of the time.

If you were to use an influencer, you could very well use this approach to encourage someone to buy from you.

Right?

This is a combination of old and new marketing tools put together. What one “important” person says can influence another.

If you believe that someone is important, you are more likely to listen to what they tell you.

If someone who has influence tells you that something is good for you, or that you should have it, you’re more likely to purchase it.

Right?

Here are the highlights  of what makes influencer marketing what it is today.

  1. Identify key people that can impact your buying decisions.
  2. Researching the key people or things that attract attention.
  3. Engaging with high-impact people.
  4. Supporting those who have high-impact influence and pull in your field.

Influencer marketing is taking on a new meaning, and it’s taking on a newer shape and way of being promoted.

However, the idea that someone of influence can help you sell more stuff isn’t a new idea.

Right now, it’s all about how you can partner up with someone who has influence, and how effective you can be with them.

It’s not a bad idea.

In fact, it’s a great idea. However, what most folks ask me is how they can get someone of influence to help them.

It isn’t always that easy.

How You Can Implement Influencer Marketing on a Small Scale

There’s no doubt that it takes time to build the level of influence that you are looking for.

Regardless of how well-known you are, you can still become a well-known person in the future.

Starting on a small scale will ultimately get you to stretch your wings. What are you willing to do to become a person of influence?

If you don’t know a celebrity, why not start in your hometown? Who is well-known where you live?

Utilize those opportunities often, if possible. Seek out people, and you’ll realize that you’ll have to speak up.

Success won’t come find you, you’ll have to work for it. Don’t assume that anyone is going to take part in what you are doing just because it’s good.

Find those influential folks around you, within your inner circle or hometown that align with your goals.

Finding those professionals that align with your goals, will aid in a more successful journey inside “influencer marketing”.

How to Persuade Your Prospects without Trying to Sell Them

Have you been trying to figure out how to persuade your prospects without trying to cause them to feel as though they have been sold?

There are many different theories as to how to handle a prospect, regardless of what you’re selling.

There isn’t ANY just one way to work at getting someone to come around to your way of thinking.

Prospects are your stepping stone to an expanding business and they are your way to more revenue in the end.

Today, I’m going to share with you how to persuade your prospects and get them to see things your way without making them feel like you are making a sale.

How to Persuade Your Prospects from Day One

There are many things that you can do to attract the right people to your business, but what you may now know is that there is a way to get others to see things your way.

How can you persuade your prospects to see things your way without “selling” them?

Consider that when a doctor tells you to take a specific medication you don’t question it.

It’s important that you do question it, and you have the right to.

In fact, you should know that the reason doctors don’t get certain questions is because they have a very specific type of authority.

The authority that they operate with is so strong that generally speaking, their patients see no need to question them.

Their presentation from start to finish is nearly flawless.

This is when doctors serve the purpose of teaching you how to persuade your prospects in the same fashion.

You can get them to come around to your way of thinking, without a doubt that you are the expert in your field.

You can position yourself for prime attraction in your industry as well when you exert the right amount of authority.

What can you do to ensure that your prospects will follow you and hang on every word?

  1. Market to those who are already interested in your product. If you already have an audience, it’s much easier to get them to buy from you. Make sure that they know who you are and what you want, and then, entice them.
  2. Sell the ultimate dream. If someone wants to be successful they will have a vision of what they expect to happen once they buy what you’re offering. Sell the dream, but be realistic. Do the right thing, and make sure they understand what can happen if they do what they are supposed to do with YOUR product. Paint the picture, but do it right. Tell them if they do X, Y, and Z, they can have it all.
  3. Get your prospects to be curious. Okay, it’s been said that curiosity killed the cat, but did it? The only good way to look at this is to make people be curious about what you are doing and what you’re offering. Offer up a phone call, and once they are on the line, make sure that you listen to what they are saying and/or asking. Get their attention, then keep their attention.
  4. Don’t use hype, but re-iterate how great your product is. Hype is never something I promote here, but build up your product. Make sure that your audience knows you have what it takes to make it in your market. You should portray your product as the win-win for everyone. Don’t snow people into thinking you are something you aren’t, but don’t use hype.

Learning how to persuade your prospects is important, but don’t say things that aren’t true.

Why Following the Masses Isn’t Always a Good Idea

3 ways to stand out

You have probably heard that following the masses is ideal if you want to know who’s who in online marketing. There are thousands of individuals that start marketing online, but only a few really make it big.

There are many reasons for this, but the most popular one is because an individual worked hard for their endeavor. This also means that they gave it everything they possibly could.

Those who have continued success know that it isn’t easy.

As Jeffrey Hayzlett says, “They call it hard work because it’s hard.” This means sacrificing free time, quiet time, golf time, and salon time.

There isn’t anything wrong with those things, but if you are working hard to reach a goal, you’ll have to focus on meeting deadlines to get there.

So, why isn’t following the masses always a good idea?

Following the Masses is Good ONLY if they do the Right Thing

Okay. I hear ya.

It would seem like following the big crowd would mean you’re headed in the right direction.

Unfortunately, this isn’t always true. This is because NOT everyone is going to do the right thing. There are tons of folks that can follow, but not everyone is dedicated to being a stand up kind of leader.

When someone steps into a leadership position and they do the right thing, they become more attractive to others and they have a lot to offer those who join the group.

Here is what makes a leader a good person to follow:

  1. They are driven to learn more and grow more as a person.
  2. They are willing to help others.
  3. They give to others without asking for anything in return.
  4. They continue to strive for the good of the entire group.
  5. They never give up.
  6. They put God first in all things.

There are so many more things I could think of, but following the masses is only good as long as that group of people is collectively doing the right thing.

If it’s a company and they are not focused on the things I’ve listed above, it’s time to look elsewhere for someone to follow.

It’s only wise to follow if you are following true leaders. Likewise, it is only good to learn from real entrepreneurs that also do these things.

Seeking out unique marketing and sales systems is okay, but that doesn’t always mean that you’re hooking up with the most talented people or the best leadership.

There needs to be accountability in a large group, namely a company. The true is also the same for those who intend to lead or choose to position themselves as leaders.

If you want to follow someone else, it’s wise to slow down and consider who it is that you’ll be following. Don’t choose to follow someone because you think they have money or a certain degree of success.

Choose to follow them because they do the right things in order to become successful.

Who is it that you lean on to learn from? Do you follow the crowd because they seem to be cool? Are you following someone that you believe you can emulate for success on your terms?

When in doubt, always look at the list above, and make sure that you are looking at the good before you start following the masses.

5 Hot Tips to Persuade Someone

tips to persuade someone

Are you looking for tips to persuade someone?

Most salespeople want to know the easiest way to make a sale. This is because they believe they lack sales skills. Everyone wants to know how to persuade others.

It’s a natural born desire. We all want others to come around to our way of thinking. We all want others to agree with us. Finally, we want someone to BUY from us.

Is it possible to easily persuade someone to change their mind? Can you get someone to buy something they did not plan to purchase?

Today, I’m going to share with you some HOT tips to persuade someone. I have learned from some of the greatest minds in sales.

I have also been networking with some of the most amazing speakers in the world. You will learn the body language that matters, and how to talk to people differently.

It’s time to get others to listen to you and take action.

Tips to Persuade Someone with Body Language

Body language has a lot to do with WHY people respond to you a certain way.

If you are speaking to a group of people, how can you persuade them to agree with you? Can you get your audience to buy from you?

You can. Here are some tips to persuade someone whether you know them or not.

  1. Make eye contact. Looking at people and speaking to them directly can have a huge impact. If you are talking but not looking directly at someone it will appear that you being dishonest. Once you make eye contact, you should maintain eye contact and smile. You should be yourself, but ALWAYS look directly at the person you are talking to.
  2. Exude confidence. Are you confident? Poor self-esteem can show up in a conversation with someone. When you lack confidence you will appear nervous and unprepared. Always work on building confidence before a presentation or conversation with someone. Confidence is a great way to ensure that you persuade someone.
  3. Know your product. This probably sounds cliche, but know your product. You cannot make a presentation on a product you know nothing about. Every detail matters in a presentation. Make it your business to know your product inside and out. If you don’t use the product yourself, it’s likely you won’t be able to persuade anyone to buy it.
  4. Agree with the individual you are talking to when necessary. Persuasion isn’t about not listening to the other person. When an individual says something that you agree with tell them. Do not be afraid to let the other person know that you agree with them on something. Be real with others and let them know what you agree with and what you do NOT agree with. People will respect you more for it.

Tips to Persuade Someone Over the Phone

The same tips to persuade someone will be useful when you talk with someone over the phone. The one main difference? Your tone of voice will matter.

When you call a prospect or customer keep in mind that your emotions come through. People can hear a lack of confidence over the phone, and they can also determine whether or not you know your product.

You absolutely MUST have a confident tone, and speak clearly and be concise.

People do not like to have someone else waste their time. Let your prospect know why you called and be clear about what you want.

Do you feel as though these tips could help you persuade others? Do you feel that you can be more influential as a result of these tips today?

I hope that you work on your confidence, and if speaking is challenging for you join a group like Toastmasters. Get as much practice as you can.

You will discover that these “tips to persuade someone” always work as you put more time and effort into your craft.

The Influence of Love

moving forward

The influence of love is pretty strong, and it is amazing that so few people in this world love their spouse or children as passionately as God loves us.

When someone says that they are, “under the influence of love”, I think about a new relationship. I think about a couple that has just begun dating, or perhaps a young couple that is of high-school age.

You might refer to this as “puppy love”, but it does exist.

If you have never read the book Crazy Love by Francis Chan, you should get your hands on it. Some say it’s “radical”, others say it’s really just “crazy”.

Whatever you choose to call it, you should know that God is probably just crazy enough to love us. Our wretched nature is enough to turn people away, regardless of how good we look or smell.

Human beings can only express the love of God the best way they know how, or how they can relate to it. What would it take for you to know that you are loved fully and that without a doubt you are forgiven of all the wrong you’ve ever done in your life?

What if you knew that feeling of unconditional love?

It’s so rare, but today, I want to share with you what I’ve learned about the nature of God, and how important it is that we focus on learning more about how deeply He loves us, and why it’s the key to living out the rest of our time here on earth.

The Influence of Love is Strong

It’s no surprise that love can change the way you see things, but it can also change the way you view things. The influence of love in my heart and mind, and even in my household is exemplified through the love of God.

The greater question may even be, what is the actual influence of love? It’s something so strong, that it causes people to see the truth about themselves and the individual that loves them.

Having said that, I want to share with you what God says about love, and why His love is so strong, and that nothing can separate us from that love.

We know that:

  • God sent His ONLY son to die (John 3:16)
  • God teaches that we should treat others how we would want to be treated (Luke 6:31)
  • God teaches that love should be sincere and hate what is evil (Romans 12:9)
  • God teaches us to love our neighbor as ourselves (Mark 12:31)
  • God teaches us that love does no harm to anyone or anything (Romans 13:10)
  • God teaches us that love does not keep score or record of wrongs, and that love is kind, patient, and influences our relationships in a way that generally does not present the way we live as human beings (I Corinthians 13:4-8)

Clearly, the strongest possible influence is one that is sacrificial. As a father, I tried to put myself in this situation. I really tried to imagine giving up my son to die for a wretched, and sinful world like the one we live in today. I have to be honest and tell you that there is no way I could give up any of my children to die.

It is also hard to imagine loving people so much, that you are able to love them as you love yourself, and it is hard to imagine that you would drop everything to help someone regardless of how well you know them.

What about loving someone completely, no matter what they have done? It is hard to imagine this, and it is difficult to think that you could go without reminding someone of the wrong they have done.

Real love, deep love, that is unconditional, truly is an amazing gift, and it is so rare. In fact, this love that has so much influence is much needed, and when it is freely given it can change the other individual within the relationship.

Are you able to show your spouse this kind of love? What about your children? Your co-workers, and even your boss? There are many different ways that you can show others you love them.

The question is, is your love strong enough to influence them?

Do You Have the Influence of Love?

Now that you know a bit about where my influence comes from, think about what influences you most. Is it money, fame, fortune, or something else?

What about your business. Do you believe that you can influence them enough to join you, buy from you, or even refer you? What is is that you want most out of your life or business?

Love is always first.

Love goes a long way in not only relationships with your family, but even your love for the Lord carries over into your business and how you treat people.

Do you create value for them and put their best interest first? Do you see them as just a number or do you see them as a valuable part of what you do?

Allow love to influence your life in multiple ways, and don’t be afraid to share your love with others. God loves you fiercely, and it is important that you allow that to sink in.

God is love, and it should and can permeate every aspect of your being.

Always let the influence of love be the greatest source for everything in your life.

7 Ways to Influence Others with Your Speaking

Speaking is an important part of running your business, but it’s amazing how much you can influence others with your speaking.

There are so many terms, analogies, and business jargon that you use on a daily basis but speaking gives you an opportunity to get in front of others and plead your case.

Speaking is also a gateway to building more and better relationships. There is a right and proper way to make sure that you are getting your point across, and how you speak to people will make all the difference in the world.

What matters most about your speaking engagements? What about speaking to your audience on a webinar? Today, I’m going to cover 7 ways that you can draw others into a great conversation, and how you can keep them engaged for the long-term.

Influence Others with Your Speaking Regardless of Topic

Regardless of what you talk about, you should be able to hold your audience captive. There are many problematic speaking mistakes that we make, but oftentimes it’s the little things that we do that cause big problems.

Have you ever listened to yourself talk? I mean really listen? Here are some things you can do right now to help you influence others with your speaking.

  1. Record yourself and play it back. Listening to yourself is a great way to assess what you’re doing great and perhaps what you’re doing that is not so great. Speaking to a crowd is easy for some while speaking to others one-on-one is much more challenging. Record your speaking engagement or even record as yourself as you practice at home. You’ll be able to hear your inflections in your voice, and you’ll have a clear picture of what you need to change.
  2. Take your time and cover your talking points. Taking your time is better than rushing through a speech. It’s not uncommon to speak too quickly when nerves strike. Just take a deep breath and relax. The more relaxed you are the better you will be able to speak.
  3. Don’t be so quiet about it…really. The more nervous you are the more likely you will speak quietly and shy away. It’s important that you speak in a way that allows others to hear you. Don’t hide your message. Project your voice out so the audience can hear you loud and clear.
  4. Crackling in the voice. Speaking clearly and without hesitation is important, but crackling in the voice is a sign of nervousness. This crackling sound may also occur if your throat is dry or you’ve had a cold. Always look for ways to keep your voice clear, as well as hydrated so that you can speak clearly and confidently.
  5. Trailing off at the end of the sentence. Speaking while nervous can cause you to trail off at the end off of your speech or your thoughts. If you trail off to the end, it makes it difficult for everyone to hear what you’re saying. Stay focused and aware of how you’re speaking to your audience.
  6. Don’t insinuate questions. New writers have been accused of making statements sound like questions when they really are not, but speakers are often guilty of this same problem. Business writers refer to this as “uptalk”, in which the inflection of the voice is such that it sounds as though a question is being asked. Just as a writer cannot assume what the reader is thinking or knows what he or she is talking about, you can’t assume that your audience knows what you’re talking about.
  7. Just say “no” to monotone! If you sound the same all of the time you’ll be monotone. This means that you lack inflection in your voice, and that spells trouble for you if you want your audience to pay attention to you.

Have you been booked for a speaking engagement? Even if you are running a webinar for your business, you should do them as often as you can so that you can practice as much as you can.

The more you speak the better you will become. You may want to join a group like Toastmasters, so that you can learn new methods and new ways of becoming a better speaker.

You’ll also learn new ways on how you can influence others with your speaking.

What Leadership Skills Matter Most?

What leadership skills matter most for your business? Strangely, most corporations put an emphasis on performance rather than leadership.

It’s all about production, what lies ahead for tomorrow, and the priority should clearly be whether or not we have the right people in the right place. Do you?

Are you doing the things you’re best at and allowing others to do other things that drain you of your time and energy?

A leader knows these things, and a leader knows how to delegate. Are you falling short in some way? Do you have what it takes to be a leader?

Today, I’m going to share with you what leadership skills matter most, and how to have a great influence over those you work with.

What Leadership Skills Matter Most to You?

If you take a good look around you, most of the time, your co-workers and friends or family members freak out. They freak out about a lot of things, rather than thinking about how they can approach the situation one step at a time.

What leadership skills matter most?

  1. Adapting to change. Those who fear change will ultimately struggle becoming successful. When things change, it’s important that you go with the flow. Change is constant, and there isn’t much that you can do to lead if you aren’t willing to adapt to change.
  2. Strategic thinking. There are numerous things to think about when running a business, but if you cannot think strategically, you’ll lose the battle. There will always be challenges that arise, and when they do, you need to know how to work through them, not around them. For every aspect of your business, there must be a strategy to work through it and overcome any problems that may arise.
  3. Integrity. You’ve probably heard the saying that character is who you are when no one is looking. Integrity is about doing the right thing no matter what happens. If you don’t do right by your employees as well as those above you, you’ll struggle to gain the respect of all that work with you in your corporation.
  4. Communication skills. Did you know that communication is the key to everything? The willingness to communicate with others, along with the ability to communicate openly will help you achieve great success in all you do. The ability to communicate will help you with your relationships with spouses, friends, and other family members. If you can’t practice this good privately, you won’t be able to do this well publicly.

There is a great call to leaders, and we desperately need more of them. You can attempt to be a good leader, but are you willing to do what it takes to become a great leader?

Leaderships is vital to any corporation and its endeavor. The Bible says in Luke 12:48, (my paraphrase), “To whom much is given, much is required.” This is important in all areas of your life. You need to be ready to take on great responsibility when it comes around, and focus on what leadership skills matter most.

What Giving Really Means

Do you know what giving really means? If you were to look at the definition, you would see that it means “to freely transfer something to someone”.

Have you ever given something to someone else that had sentimental value? Whether you or providing for someone, or you are giving them a gift, giving is such a beautiful thing.

It seems that giving brings so much joy, and the more you give, the more you begin to see how God feels about all of His children.

Do you know the joy of giving to someone else? There are many ways to illustrate the true joy of giving, and it’s important to understand what it really means to give.

What Giving Really Means for Christians

The greatest gift that any of us as Christians have ever received is the gift of God giving us His one and only Son to die for us on the cross.

Giving us life was easy to do, but giving up His only Son was not easy at all. What giving really means is sacrifice, love, and a passion for the individual that is on the receiving end.

This is the greatest example I can think of, but here are some things you should remember when you plan to give to someone else.

  1. Give from the heart. Giving from the heart is important, and it’s meaningful. It’s vital that you give from the heart, and that you have no reservation about giving. The intention is not to get anything in return, but rather to give with a true joy about the situation.
  2. Give to help others in need. There are tons of folks that could use a helping hand, and oftentimes this isn’t just financial. Giving of your money is great, but giving of your time is valuable too. Does your elderly neighbor need help with the laundry? Could they use a lift to the grocery store? There are hundreds of folks around you that could use your help. Just seek them out, and when given the opportunity, make the most of it.
  3. Give regularly. One of the reasons God highlights giving in His Word is because He wants us to be selfless. God desires that we are charitable to others. Giving should be a state of mind. Always be looking for ways in which you can give of your time, talents, finances, and more.
  4. Giving isn’t just for the church. Oftentimes, people confuse giving with the church. Giving of your tithe is important, but as I mention above, it’s important to put that to use in your personal life. There may be many folks around you that are unsaved, and you could be the only Jesus they ever see. Give daily.

Giving is a beautiful act of love and kindness, and it’s one that is in short supply today. Serving others brings tremendous rewards and joy.

Teach your children about what giving really means, so that they can see what life is all about.
