One of the best kept secrets is the power behind eating a healthy diet. There are numerous natural foods that can aid in reducing inflammation in the body.

Every disease or inflammatory process starts in the cells. This means that feeding the body what it needs for greater cell health is important.

Today, I’m going to talk about fighting cancer naturally with healthy foods and good nutritional supplementation. I’ll also give you some resources I lean on for recommendations when health issues arise.

The diet can do so many things for the mind and body.

What you eat has everything to do with how you feel overall and how you live. You can start fighting cancer naturally by changing up your diet starting today.

Here are some foods that are ideal for fighting cancer:

  1. Cruciferous vegetables
  2. Walnuts
  3. Strawberries
  4. Tomatoes
  5. Garlic
  6. Blueberries
  7. Salmon
  8. Seeds and nuts

There are many more we could add to the list, but I’ll cover them in detail so you have a better idea as to why they are effective in fighting cancer naturally. 

The best one to start with is cruciferous vegetables. These include broccoli, arugula, cauliflower, bok choy, cabbage, brussels sprouts, and collard greens.

These veggies contain phytochemicals along with vitamins and minerals. These are all essential for good health, but the more you can eat with a meal the better.

One of the main differences between countries with low numbers on disease and the United States is that they make the vegetables an integral part of the main meal.

Americans are used to adding vegetables as a side.

It is just a very different way of thinking. Here, the main dish is usually meat or chicken. Those are okay, all in moderate amount. However, the statistics on health in the United States prove that we need a change.

If you look at the stems of the cruciferous vegetables, there is a shape of a cross. This is where the name cruciferous comes from. The neat thing about this is that it appears to “cross out disease”.

I also believe that this is a reminder of God’s power and love for us on the cross!

Berries are another ideal cancer fighting food. Blueberries are loaded with antioxidants as are raspberries. Blackberries are okay but in small amounts. Blackberries are higher in carbs and natural sugars.

What about strawberries? These contain what is known as ellagic acid. This isn’t so much a cancer fighter as it is a cancer preventer. Strawberries also contain quercetin.

Quercetin is powerful in that it can cause cancer cells to self-destruct if someone eats enough of them. You just have to be consistent.

These are also loaded with vitamin c which is helpful for good cell health. Vitamin C has been proven to fight free radicals which can cause disease and accelerate the aging process.

Are you nuts or should you just eat more of them? LOL.

Okay, so walnuts are good for you as well. They are a heart healthy nut, but research on how they can fight cancer is a bit limited. What researchers have discovered is that studies show that walnuts slow the growth of breast cancer and prostate cancer in rats.

This at least deserves the mention, but eat them if you like them.

Tomato or tomaaaahhhhhtoe? (I just wanted to see if you were paying attention 🙂 ).

Tomatoes contain lycopene which is good for reducing blood pressure, but this is also a cancer fighting substance. Watermelon contains lycopene as well.

These two fruits may reduce the risk of oral cancers, colon cancer, and even lung cancer.

Garlic is good for many things, but research shows that it may slow down growth in tumors. Garlic is effective in giving the immune system a healthy boost.

This means that it may be able to ward off cancer.

So, a few things we haven’t covered is salmon and seeds.

You have probably heard about eating oily fish to reduce inflammation. Additionally, eating oily fish like salmon could reduce your risk of cancer.

What about seeds?

There are many seeds that hold health benefits, but it’s important to select them carefully. Seeds should be consumed in moderation due to the risk of cyanide poisoning.

This is because most seeds contain amygdalin, which can raise cyanide levels in the body. Please ask your local health food store as many apricot seeds are not labeled correctly.

There are so many ways to start changing your diet and taking charge of your health. You have to get started. Then you need to be consistent.
