2. Opt for low-fat dairy. Dairy is a beautiful thing, but it’s important that you cut the fat for heart health. Calcium is often misunderstood as being great for the bones, but little has been published about its amazing ability to help reduce blood pressure. Choose low-fat cottage cheese, low-fat milk and other low-fat dairy products when possible.
3. Are you nuts? Nuts are a great source of good fats, and they can help lower your bad cholesterol. Nuts are also full of antioxidants which support cell health and repair damaged cells. With healthy blood vessels your blood will pump great without restriction.
4. Stop the saturated fat. Fat isn’t bad, in fact as I mention above the nuts are a good fat. Your brain is mostly fat, but keep in mind that saturated fats are a killer. Keep the fat low in the diet and high in fiber, and you’ll be able to maintain solid heart health.
5. Get moving and limit the alcohol. A glass of red wine is good for you, but drinking on a regular basis isn’t good for your heart. Alcohol is a depressant, but for the body it can boost your blood pressure. If you limit your alcohol intake and you focus on physical activity at least a few days a week to start, you’ll put your body in good shape.
